INTERVARSITY

A place to worship…

Upon witnessing the glory of God in the cloud on Mount Sinai, Moses throws himself to the ground and worships (Exodus 34:8).

In a cave a young man scratches a prayer petitioning his Lord to have mercy and protect him from trouble, marveling at the scandal of grace for his life when the world seems bent on destroying him (Psalm 57).

On a dangerous roadside swarming with people a blind beggar receives his sight from a man he has only heard about. He immediately praises and follows this man, inspiring others to do the same (Luke 18:43).

These are very different pictures of worship, amidst circumstances of awe, distress, and blessing alike. Such is the response modeled for the people of God, that the magnificence of His presence is reason to call on him no matter what is going on around us or within us.

Here at IVSLO a place of worship is created so that we might respond together, in song, prayer, and reflection. Because we are made in His image, His presence is manifested in our methods of praising him. Thus we believe in including forms of celebration across cultures, time eras, and church traditions. The picture of God’s people together as witnessed in John’s vision powerfully affirms that our nationalities and ethnicities remain intact in the full glory of His kingdom, and occurs in the context of worship! (Revelation 7:9-10)

We seek to build a community that brings the kingdom of God to our campus, and worship continues to be central to our unity through Jesus.  But just singing along with us doesn’t have to be the extent of your participation. If you have gifts or talents related to worship, whether it is musically, through drama, dance, or other creative ways, we encourage you to get involved! Our God can be glorified through electric guitars as well as accordions, through painting as well as freestyle rap.  It’s an honor to worship with you!
